This fall, SCARPA is making waves in the telemark world with the long-awaited, all-new TX Pro boots. These aren’t just any ordinary upgrade—they’re a completely new design with advanced materials, cutting-edge technology, and modern features that will elevate your telemark game to the next level. Here at Rise of Telemark, we had the privilege of testing the pre-production model over the spring season. We’ve received a bunch of questions and decided to share the answers in this post.

Highlights
-
Lighter: The new boots are nearly a pound lighter per pair compared to the current model—a major difference, especially for the uphill.
-
Buckle System: A three-buckle system, including a ratchet instep buckle and a new booster strap, provides added power and control.
-
Walk Mode Lever and Range of Motion (ROM): The range of motion is fantastic, and the new walk mode lever is a huge improvement!
-
Toe Design: The redesigned boot toe enhances the step-in with pin bindings and improves compatibility with a wider range of crampons.
-
Size/Length: The new TX Pro outsoles are 8mm shorter in BSL. (Not to be confused for the inside mondo size)
-
New Shell Size: Thanks to the shorter BSL, SCARPA was able to bring back the 30.5-31.0 shell size in the NTN boot, making NTN accessible to more big-footed tele skiers.
Performance Upgrades
One of the most exciting changes is the new flex pattern—softer bellows paired with a stiffer cuff. This combo is perfect for initiating turns, and improving downhill performance. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with comments like, “Much stiffer than anticipated, especially when dropping the knee lower.”
Liners
The liners in the new TX Pros are a bit thinner than before, which should help with fit and comfort, especially after you get them molded to your feet.
Production Boot Improvements
SCARPA made some tweaks between the pre-production and production models:
- Instep Buckle: The instep ratchet buckle now has three positions to adjust the instep volume. This is a welcome feature for those with low or high insteps!
- Outsole Lugs: Some of the sidewall texture lugs have been removed to minimize potential snow build-up underfoot.
Pro Tip: Try Before You Buy

Frequently Asked Questions
-
I hear the BSL of the new TX Pros is 8mm shorter. Are these smaller boots?
Although the BSL is 8mm shorter thanks to the modern materials used in the shell, the internal (mondo) size remains the same as the older SCARPA tele boots, so they’re not smaller in fit. -
How did the shell and liner sizes change from the old TX Pros to the new boots?
The mondo size and last (width) remain the same. The fit has been slightly tweaked, with a new instep adjustment offering three positions. Most people won’t feel a significant difference, but those with high or low insteps will appreciate the new adjustment options. -
Are these lower-volume boots?
Based on SCARPA’s specs and feedback from early adopters, the new TX Pros fit similarly to the old ones right out of the box. They might be a bit narrower in the forefoot, but overall, they offer a good fit. (Pro tip: Get those liners fitted/molded!) -
What’s the difference between the men’s and women’s versions?
The TX Pro Women’s model has all the same features and benefits as the men’s, with a slightly lower cut cuff and liner. -
How much shorter are the women’s boot cuff and liner?
The women's boot cuff and liner are approximately 4/5” to 1” (20-25mm) shorter than the men’s version. -
How the new TX Pros compare to the TX Comp?
They have a different flex pattern, as Brian points out in his review. The softer bellows combined with stiffer cuff make for a great freeheel experince! If you’re unsure, it’s always a good idea to try before you buy. We’ll have plenty of the new TX Pro boots in our Rise of Tele demo fleet this winter. -
Are the new TX Pros worth the upgrade?
Absolutely! They’re fantastic, though they might take a bit of getting used to, especially if you’re transitioning from 75mm to NTN. But once you do, you’ll find they encourage a better telemark turn.
